Demigods… The new full-length album by U.K trio is finally ready to be devoured by old-school goth fans around the world.. After two E.P’s and two full-length albums Guillotine Dream’s fifth release ‘Demigods’ is here to take the dark world by storm…
Demigods… Released October 15th, just in time for the darkest celebration of the year All Hallows Eve aka Halloween or even further back into history Samhain… Possibly the sequel to their previous album ‘Damaged and Done’ or the soundtrack to a classic horror flick… Dark forests, knights in shining armour on the battlefield, castles amongst the fog and creatures of the night all come to mind with just a first listen… From witches to ghouls… From wizards to wolves… It’s all here… A gloomy but perfect atmosphere for a cold rainy night…
Demigods… Opening track to this haunting gem the intro ‘Disengage’… A small taste as to what is about to follow… Ten tracks each a dark morbid tale of their own… Reminiscent tunes of Fields Of The Nephilim at their finest moments… A genuine old-school goth vibe is present from start to end… Highlight of this album the single ‘Another’ which opens with a whispering vocal line only to continue with haunting eerie vocals and dark melodic guitar riffs throughout the tune… The lines “divided we fall”are heard here and there leaving listeners hunger for more… More highlights the tracks ‘Blades Fall’ (Smells Like Guillotine Spirit), a more upbeat tune with the words “under the shadow of the guillotine dream” dominating this goth explosion of intense bass lines and fast drumbeats, ‘Come Away’ and the goth ballad ‘God’s Waiting’… A melodic tune which leads us into the dark woods with its haunting aura… “ what you see is what you get”… “isolation… pain… regret”… A feeling of despair is in the foggy air… Closing track to this haunting gem ‘Waiting For God’ a raw upbeat goth melody… As some would say set to a catchy pulsating beat… A must for the late smokey dark dancefloor…
Demigods… Guillotine Dream have delivered yet again another dark goth rock masterpiece… A true old- school haunting gem that all Neph fans must own in their music collection..
