Dark Malta Festival 2024… 5th Anniversary… April 19th – April 21st 2024… Review by Tzina Dovve (DJ Lady Davinia)…
Dark Malta Festival… A brand new goth/industrial/metal festival comes to life back in 2018 on the small sunny island of Malta in the heart of the Mediterranean… The only festival of its kind on this sunshine island founded by Rene Hades Farrugia of Hades Management and co-owner of live music venue ‘The Garage’ (Zebbug-Malta).. An individual that one could say is the heart and soul of the Maltese underground scene… A relatively small but growing scene…
Dark Malta Festival… Located in the extravagant venue ‘Gianpula Main Room’, part of the ‘Gianpula Village’, a popular multi nightclub complex of Malta, situated in Zebbug just outside the ancient fortress city of Mdina. After two successful years in its new home Dark Malta Festival was ready to embrace music fans from around the globe once again for three days of darkness and what this intimate festival has to offer… With 24 international bands, international DJs, a dark alternative market and art exhibition, an afterparty on Saturday night and pool parties on the rooftop of ‘Gianpula Main Room’ second year running after their success in 2023, Dark Malta Festival was more than ready to celebrate its fifth anniversary to the fullest…
Dark Malta Festival… A special line-up for the 5th Anniversary edition of this dark celebration with some oldschool established names on the scene and some great new and upcoming bands from around the world… From San Fransisco’s Psyclon Nine and Berlins’ Lebanon Hannover and Pink Turns Blue to Sweden’s Suicide Commando and Belgium’s Ultra Sunn to the UK’s The March Violets and the Dutch Grendel (just to name a few), Dark Malta Festival features a broad spectrum and diverse selection of international bands… Highlights of this years’ festival Pink Turns Blue, Suicide Commando and the headliners Die Krupps and Front 242 by far… Both bands gave an outstanding performance and delivered a dynamic show that put others to shame… Crystal clear sound and non-stop energy throughout their sets kept the crowd dancing all night… Both pioneers in the goth/industrial scene the boys have still got what it takes to keep their audience in awe and wanting more… Bravo… Another highlight of this years’ festival the opening act from Athens Greece, Lia Hide.. A warm welcome to this dark 5th anniversary celebration with a blend of mellow dark synths, strong basslines and guitar riffs and crystal clear vocals… Avant goth/pop at its finest… This festival caters for it all…
Dark Malta Festival… A very promising and upcoming goth/industrial/metal festival that has come a long way since its early days at the ‘Montekristo Estates’ in 2018 and 2019 and quite deservedly so… A very well organised festival that is growing bigger every year… Black clad goths scattered all over this sunny island are getting more and more each time.. Hats, sunglasses and high protection sunscreen is evident in the air.. Goths in daylight from around the globe sipping drinks and coctails in their summer goth gear at the pool parties and dancing to their fave dark tunes.. A must for all dark music fans who aren’t afraid of the sun and want to combine a holiday, some historic culture and great food and above all, an amazing music festival which has so much to offer in this unique atmosphere… This sunny island has it all… Happy 5th Anniversary Dark Malta Festival… April 25th – April 27th 2025 awaits… Save these dates… Well done Rene for creating and organising one of the best international goth/industrial/metal festivals of 2024… Thank you and the Dark Malta Team for yet another amazing experience… Until next time… By Tzina Dovve (DJ Lady Davinia)…
