Don Hill (Donald Mulvihill) has passed away. He was 66 years old. Don Hill presided over both incarnations of eponymous rock club Don Hill’s which he started in 1993. It hosted many New York city events, but was best known for the Squeezebox party. Previous to owning his own club, Don Hill worked at The Cat Club and Kenny’s Castaways as a manager and/or band booker. He was a friend to CBGBs and New York nightlife in general. Cbgb Omfug writes, “Rest In Peace to our friend Don Hill. Always a gentleman”.
Steven Blush of Seconds Magazine has a well written piece on the life and passing of Don Hill here.

I DJed for a Gene Loves Jezebel show at Don Hill's in 2001. It was Steve Blush's Rock Candy weekly party. I only met Don briefly, so was surprised that he remembered who I was, and moreover was so gracious in 2009, when I returned to Don Hill's. He was a kind man with a remarkable memory.
STARR wants to recognize the loss of a great man. He helped us get Record company exc.s to come and see us the many times we played Squeeze Box that resulted in Major Lable biddinh wars. RIP Don
We loved playing for Don Hill <3
Don was very generous & kind, When i first started in the music Biz back in the late 80's and early 90's we would hold record Release parties at the Cat Club all the time.. Don was always working around stuff for us so that we could have the best time slots or night of the week etc.. He truly loved the music biz and the scene. we shared lot's of long conversations about music and the biz.. We kept in touch when he was back at Kenny castaway's in between the Cat Club and opening Don Hills.. When i bought & opened My first bar (Bar-Coastal in 2000) and told Don he was great, once again taking the time to tell me about the biz , what to expect what, how to deal with the city, staffing, all the little in and out's of the biz that you never really know or understand until you have been in it a while. and i gotta tell ya… he was right about all of it!! I owe him my gratitude and will surely miss running into him from time to time and shootin the breeze.. RIP Don!!
Don Hill was a great and super nice person. I met him in Squeezebox days and he always treated me well. Whenever he saw me he would motion the bartender to get me whatever drink I wanted. It seems like he genuinely understood the role a promoter should play in the NYC music scene, which was the basis of his long success.
