Dark Malta Festival 2025… April 25th- April 27th 2025… Review by Tzina Dovve (DJ Lady Davinia)…

Dark Malta Festival… A new goth/industrial/metal music festival makes its debut back in 2018 on the small holiday destination of Malta, an island in the heart of the Mediterranean… The one and only event of its kind on this sunny island founded by Rene Hades Farrugia of Hades Management and co-owner of the island’s live music venue and club ‘The Garage’… A man who can easily be described as the heart and soul of the Maltese underground scene… A very small but tight-knit scene which is growing day by day…

Dark Malta Festival… Located once more ( fourth year running) in the extravagant open-air nightclub venue ‘Gianpula Main Room’, part of the ‘Gianpula Village’, a very popular multi nightclub complex of Malta situated in Zebbug, just outside the ancient fortress city of Mdina. After three successful festivals held in its new home Dark Malta was ready to embrace music fans from across the globe once again for three days of sun and darkness and most importantly music and what this intimate and cosy festival has to offer… From as far as New Zealand and Australia to Hawaii and South America music fans were awaiting this annual dark celebration with anticipation for yet another year… With 23 international bands/artists on the bill this year, international DJs behind the decks, a dark art exhibition and alternative market, a Saturday night after party and the ever so fun pool parties on the rooftop of ‘Gianpula Main Room’ third year running after the smashing success of their debut in 2023… Dark Malta Festival was more than ready to celebrate its sixth year to the max…

Dark Malta Festival… An exceptional line-up for the sixth year of this dark celebration with some oldschool established names on the goth/industrial/metal scene and a few new and upcoming bands/artists from around the world… From Canada’s industrial pioneers Front Line Assembly to L.A’s Dawn Of Ashes, from Sweden’s Ashbury Heights and Priest to Austria’s Nachtmahr, from Germany’s Diary Of Dreams to U.K’s Corlyx, from Holland’s iconic dark wavers Clan Of Xymox to U.S’s Aesthetic Perfection and Combichrist (just to name a few)… Plenty of highlights again this year with Italy’s Mal Di Luna, the opening act for Dark Malta this year, performing for the second time at this festival… A very theatrical and atmospheric performance in a vampiric mode… Selofan from Athens Greece gave an outstanding performance with their catchy dark beats and tunes… Their version of Grace Jones’s ‘I’ve Seen That Face Before’ was one of the hightlights of the band’s show by far along with their classic ‘Billy Was A Vampire’…

Dark Malta Festival… A very promising and upcoming international goth/industrial/metal music festival that is growing bigger and better year by year (over 1000 visitors this year)… A festival that has come a very long way since its early days in 2018 and 2019 at the ‘Montekristo Estates’ and quite deservedly so… Black clad elder goths and a lot more baby bats this year scattered all over this exquisite sunny island not afraid the sun… Sunglasses, hats and high protection sunscreen was evident in the Maltese air… Goths in daylight in their summer goth gear sipping coctails and cool drinks around the pool on the rooftop of the ‘Gianpula Main Room’ dancing to their fave dark tunes… Definitely a must for all dark music fans who are not afraid of the sun and sea and want to combine a holiday with some historic culture, great Mediterranean cuisine, friendly hospitality and above all an amazing music festival which has so much to offer in this unique and intimate atmosphere… Thankyou Rene and the entire Dark Malta team for making the festival a very special one again this year and for yet another amazing experience… April 17th- April 19th 2026… Save these dates… Until next time… By Tzina Dovve (DJ Lady Davinia)…
